Council Emergency Operating Status
The Prince George’s County Council continues to operate under the Prince George’s County State of Emergency Declaration, effective March 16, 2020, and extended by the Governing Body of Prince George’s County with the adoption of CR-48-2021 on May 11, 2021.. The Council’s Emergency Operations Procedures became effective pursuant to CR-10-2020, adopted on March 17, 2020, and amended pursuant to CR-35-2020, adopted on May 18, 2020. The Rules of Procedure for the County Council and District Council have been amended, pursuant to CR-57-2020 and CR-58-2020, respectively, adopted on July 21, 2020, for virtual and remote public participation before each body.

The Prince George’s County Council Committee of the Whole (COW), aided by the use of technology, will convene virtually, Wednesday, April 29, at 10:00 a.m. for scheduled budget work sessions. In an abundance of caution given the current state of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) In an abundance of caution given the current state of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and under the Governor’s “Proclamation and Declaration of State of Emergency and Existence of Catastrophic Health Emergency – COVID-19”, effective March 5, 2020, and the Prince George’s County State of Emergency Declaration, effective March 16, 2020, as well as guidance from the Office of the County Executive, dated March 13, 2020 and updated on April 13, 2020, including the closing of County buildings to the public; and in consultation with the County Department of Health, the County Council is operating under the following emergency procedures. UPDATE: COUNTY COUNCIL TO CONVENE VIRTUAL SESSION MARCH 31st
The Prince George’s County Council, aided by the use of technology, and in alignment with social distancing guidelines provided by the State of Maryland, will convene virtually on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., for a scheduled Council session. As of March 20, 2020
All scheduled public meetings of the Prince George’s County Council, the County Council sitting as the District Council, Zoning Hearing Examiner, Board of Appeals or the County Council’s Standing Committees, including Council Task Forces and Work Groups, are hereby postponed pursuant to CR-10-2020 until at least March 27, 2020. The County Council continues to operate remotely pursuant to the current County government operating status and under CR-10-2020 and will provide additional public notice of all future meetings.
All timelines and/or deadlines associated with ongoing cases for the District Council, Zoning Hearing Examiner and Board of Appeals are hereby tolled for a period of sixty (60) days or until such time as the statewide state of emergency is lifted and in light of the current County government operating status.
