Community Safety

This time of transition is something that is impacting everyone everywhere; safety in all of District 8 communities is extremely important to me. I want you to know that recent incidents in the Oxon Hill area are being investigated by The Criminal Investigation Department. I'm also working closely with our Constituent Services Director, Carla Cash, the District IV Police Department, and various civic associations located throughout District 8. This is the level of community engagement we strive toward with the goal of developing a safety strategy that truly works for our residents.

Realizing additional security measures need to be introduced, our team has been in discussions at the District IV CAC Meeting and Glassmanor Civic Association regarding community safety. Police officers are actively patrolling with daily visits to the Eastover area. We have also reached out to the County Executive Office and the leadership at the Department of Community Services for support with the homeless population that surfaces throughout the District and that feeds into the unfortunate scourge of heavy littering and loitering especially in areas near to local businesses.

Safety is a priority as we continue to partner with the community, civic associations, and Prince George's County Police Departments with implementing tangible action on areas that need specific and critical attention. We are here to assist and invite partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders who have mutual goals.
