General Fund expenditures in the FY 2023 approved budget are $4.2 billion, an increase of $432.0 million or 11.4% over the FY 2022 budget. The hallmark of the budget continues to make strategic investments in education, public safety, health and human services agencies. Approximately 85.6% of the County’s budget supports K-12 education and public safety costs. Funding for the Board of Education comprises the largest portion of the County’s budget at 62.2%. In FY 2023, public safety agencies are allocated $826.8 million or 19.6% of the total budget. The remaining 14.4% of the budget supports debt service costs and the general operations of the government.
