[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL VICE-CHAIR WALA BLEGAY TO CO-HOST TRAFFIC SAFETY EMERGENCY TOWN HALL


Public Encouraged to Attend Emergency Meeting on Friday, March 17th, at Henry A. Wise High School, 6-8 p.m.

Prince George’s County Council Vice-Chair Wala Blegay, Esq. (District 6) will co-host a Traffic Safety Emergency Town Hall meeting to address serious concerns along Ritchie Marlboro Road in Upper Marlboro.  The emergency meeting will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School, 12650 Brooke Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.

In the past week there have been three traffic incidents, one of  them fatal, claiming the life of 18-year-old Cayliy Haygood, of Upper Marlboro and a student attending Wise High School.  

Council Vice Chair Wala Blegay, Esq. , in a statement released after the fatal accident, pledged to address the concerns expressed by residents.

“Recently, my office was made aware of speeding concerns expressed by neighbors-- blocks away from the accident. While we understand that these complaints have been longstanding and go back to the last two years, I am committed to funding permanent solutions that eliminate motor vehicle deaths and avoidable collisions in our County.” 

Joining Council Vice Chair Blegay as meeting co-hosts and to address the community, are the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, and the Prince George’s County Police Department, Division 2.
