[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL CHAIR TODD M. TURNER WELCOMES PGCPS CEO TO “AROUND THE COUNTY”

Dr. Monica Goldson is Featured Guest on Council Cable Program

The current edition of “Around the County,” now airing on Prince George’s Community Television, features an interview with Dr. Monica Goldson, Chief Executive Officer, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). “Around the County,” a production of the Prince George’s County Council, is hosted by Prince George’s County Council Chair Todd Turner (D) – District 4.

During the half-hour segment, Council Chair Turner and Dr. Goldson discuss her recent appointment as CEO of Prince George’s County Schools; the joint audit process of Continuous Business Improvement to routinely assess the effectiveness of school operations; and the Alternative Construction Financing (ACF or P3) project to build and renovate aging school infrastructure in the County.

Council Chair Turner says it was particularly timely to have Dr. Goldson as a guest on “Around the County” to inform and update residents on Prince George’s County’s collective commitment to education and plans for the upcoming school year.

“Dr. Goldson is a veteran educator and history maker in Prince George’s County,” said Chair Turner. “Serving our school system for 28 years prior to her appointment as the permanent schools CEO, Dr. Goldson is a home-grown Prince Georgian. She is a graduate of Potomac High School and returned to Prince George’s County as a classroom instructor following her undergraduate studies. Since that time, Dr. Goldson has served our school system in several capacities that have uniquely prepared her to serve as CEO, and we look forward to a bright future under her leadership.”

“Around the County” airs on CTV Channel 70 (Comcast), on Mondays at 11:30 p.m.; Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.; and Fridays at 6:00 p.m. Community Television of Prince George’s is an award-winning, non-profit cable access facility serving as the media hub of information for Prince George’s County.
