Residents Encouraged to Utilize eComment Portal for Public Testimony
The Prince George’s County Council, aided by the use of technology, and in alignment with State of Emergencies by the State of Maryland and Prince George’s County, will convene virtually on Monday, April 20th, at 2:00 p.m. for a scheduled Council session, which includes several public hearings. The Council will reconvene at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, for two required bi-county agency FY 21 Budget public hearings.
Public hearings scheduled for Council session on April 20th at 2:00 p.m. include CB-001-2020, legislation expanding the amount of parental leave to County employees; CB-005-2020, an ordinance concerning medical cannabis uses-dispensary; CR-006-2020, a Council Resolution concerning implementation of small wireless facility permit fees; and CR-011-2020 legislation concerning the January 2020 amendment to the 2018 Water and Sewer Plan.
The Budget Public Hearings, scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., will address the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) Proposed Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Operating & Capital Budgets and the WSSC Capital Improvement Program for water and sewer for Fiscal Years 2021-2026. The Council will also receive public comment on the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) Proposed Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Operating and Capital Budgets and the (M-NCPPC) Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2021-2026.
The Council has established an eComment portal to facilitate public participation during virtual Council public hearings. The portal enables residents to register electronically to speak or to submit a comment or letter into the official public record, in lieu of verbal testimony.
Written testimony or comments will be accepted in electronic format, rather than by U.S. mail. For those unable to use the portal, comments/written correspondence may be emailed to: clerkofthecouncil@co.pg.md.us or faxed to (301) 952-5178. All testimony and comments received by the deadline will become part of the testimony and comments will not be accepted via social media or by telephone/voice mail message.
