STATEMENT- COUNCIL CHAIR CALVIN S. HAWKINS, II AND DISTRICT 4 COUNCIL MEMBER TODD M. TURNER CONDEMN WEEKEND HATE INCIDENT IN CITY OF BOWIE
The weekend incident involving the distribution of anti-Semitic materials left in residential driveways in Bowie is shocking and disgusting. Sadly, similar acts of hate were also reported in neighboring counties and in communities across our country.
The Prince George’s County Council condemns these acts and sends a clear message to those who would seek to divide us that such conduct will not be tolerated in our communities.
We applaud the response of the Bowie Police Department, which is continuing to investigate these incidents, and we encourage the continued engagement of our residents. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Department at 240-544-5700.
The Prince George’s County Council appreciates the work and outreach of the ADL, Washington, D.C. Region, regarding this matter. Committed to our County’s rich diversity and united against every form or hate and violence, the Council stands in solidarity with our Jewish neighbors in Prince George’s County.
