Working Group to Explore Permanent Rent Stabilization in the County
Prince George’s County Council Member Krystal Oriadha (District 7), has announced the establishment of a Rent Stabilization Workgroup to explore permanent rent stabilization in the County, and its members. The workgroup was established as a part of CB-007-2023, the Rent Stabilization Act of 2023, legislation temporarily preventing rent increases above 3%.
Among the topics workgroup members are expected to explore include rent limit percentages, exemptions, parameters (such as utility fees, added fees and set asides), enforcement, and penalties. The Rent Stabilization Workgroup will hold pre-meeting informational sessions on June 23rd at 1:00 p.m., and July 12th and 13th at 5:30 p.m. Formal meetings will begin mid-late July. Sessions will be live streamed for public viewing.
Workgroup members were selected from three areas: Rent Stabilization Act of 2023 public hearing participants, a list of members submitted by the County Council, and a list submitted by the Office of the County Executive.

Council Member Oriadha will serve as the workgroup Chair, and Aspasia Xypolia will serve as Vice Chair. The workgroup will be facilitated by Enterprise Facilitation.
