Event Aims to Build a Strong Tech Hub and AI Network in the County
On Wednesday, August 6, Council Member Wala Blegay (District 6) will partner with the Prince George’s County Artificial Intelligence Task Force to host ConnectTech, a new networking initiative designed to bring together technology professionals, entrepreneurs, startups, and innovators to strengthen collaboration and build a tech hub within Prince George’s County.
ConnectTech is inspired by the work of the county’s AI Task Force, which has been focused on advancing the role of AI, emerging technologies, and innovation in the local economy. This event represents the next step in building a connected, forward-looking tech ecosystem within the county.
“Prince George’s County is home to incredible talent, innovation, and opportunity,” said Council Member Wala Blegay. “With ConnectTech, we are taking an important step toward creating a network that fosters collaboration, drives economic growth, and builds our future as a tech hub.”
Vennard Wright, Chief Information Officer and Director of the county’s Office of Information Technology and Chair of the AI Task Force, added: “With federal opportunities in flux, Prince George’s County must pivot boldly toward the intersection of AI and commerce. This event marks one of many steps in our mission to reposition the county as a regional powerhouse in the burgeoning AI economy.”
The event’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Melvin Greer, Chief Data Scientist at Intel Corporation. Dr. Greer will share insights on artificial intelligence, data science, and the future of technology.
