Council Member Watson to Co-Host Free Dog Microchipping Events

Council News Posted on August 15, 2025

Council Member Ingrid S. Watson is set to host a pair of FREE dog microchipping events in District 4 alongside Prince George’s County Pet Unity Project. The first will be held in Bowie on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:00 - 7:30 PM, at Bowie City Hall. The second will take place in Greenbelt at the Greenbelt Municipal Building, on Wednesday, September 17, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Prince George's Pet Unity Project will be onsite offering free dog ID tags, pet supplies, training tips, one-on-one advice, dog enrichment ideas, and resources for pet owners. The Prince George's County Animal Services Division will place the microchips and supply information on county-offered services, pet licenses, and more. Advance registration is required.

“As a dog mom and animal lover, I believe that our pets are members of our families,” said Council Member Watson. “Ensuring dogs live happy, healthy, and full lives is very important to me, and making sure they are microchipped is essential so families can quickly be reunited with their pups if they get lost. I am proud to partner with Pet Unity Project to offer this vital service free of charge.”

In Prince George’s County, dogs with microchips have a return rate that is double that of dogs without a microchip.
