Council Member Wanika Fisher (District 2) is partnering with the Maryland Attorney General’s Office to host a virtual scam prevention workshop for senior citizens on Saturday, September 20 from 11 AM to 1 PM.
The number of senior citizens who fall victim to fraud, scams, and financial exploitation is steadily increasing each year. This workshop aims to provide helpful tips and resources to as many senior citizens as possible so they can recognize threats and proactively protect themselves from harm.
“Our seniors have worked hard all their lives and deserve peace of mind in their golden years, not living in fear of being taken advantage of,” said Council Member Fisher. “This workshop is about equipping our community with the knowledge and tools to spot scams, shut them down, and stay safe.”
Residents of all ages are invited to attend. Registration to receive a Zoom link is available here. Members of the media are invited, and Council Member Fisher is available to speak about the event and what inspired it.
