On Monday, December 22, Council Member Wala Blegay (District 6) will partner with several community organizations to support more than 20 families this holiday season through her District 6 Toy & Coat Drive, providing free toys, food, and essential items to families in need, including those impacted by recent federal workforce disruptions.
The event will run from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hi-Qu Event Center, 13711 Old Annapolis Road, Suite 104, Bowie, MD 20720. It is designed to ensure children and families across District 6 experience warmth, dignity, and joy during the holiday season.
The Toy & Coat Drive reflects Council Member Blegay’s ongoing commitment to community stability, workforce support, and family-centered solutions, particularly during times of economic uncertainty.
“This season should be one of hope, not hardship,” said Council Member Blegay. “With many families, including displaced federal workers, facing unexpected challenges, it is important that we come together as a community to support one another. This drive is about showing up, lifting families up, and making sure our children feel seen, valued, and cared for.”
Council Member Blegay extends her gratitude to community partners and volunteers who will make this event possible and invites media to attend for taped or live reports.
