Construction of the new regional community center in the Southern Area of Prince George’s County is well underway on the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) property in Brandywine, Md. This facility, currently referred to as the Southern Area Aquatic and Recreation Complex (SAARC), will include indoor aquatic space, a gymnasium, a fitness room and flexible programmable space.
Presentation
The Southern Area Aquatic and Recreation Complex (SAARC) will be a multi-generational facility, as envisioned in the Adopted Formula 2040 Functional Master Plan for Parks, Recreation and Open Space. Multi-generational facilities provide an array of programs, simultaneously, to serve the recreation and leisure needs and interests of an entire family - not just one age group.
