The Prince George’s County Re-Entry Advisory Board has the following initiatives:
- Determine, evaluate, assess and assist County agencies in implementing a comprehensive Re-Entry Program and re-entry services in the County
- Establish progress reports to assess the effectiveness of every County re-entry related service
- Evaluate what resources will be needed to implement a comprehensive Re-Entry Program and re-entry services that clearly define and identify existing and implementable services offered within the County that address but are not limited to, employment, housing, mental health, and faith-based initiatives
- Form direction and provide assistance towards the implementation of programs and services in order to increase access and obtainment of employment, housing, mental health, and faith-based, opportunities for re-entry citizens within the County
- Develop a model program or systematic processes for serving formerly incarcerated persons pre and post incarceration release
- Review relevant legislation; and report to the County Council its progress respective of its findings
Prince George’s County Re-entry Advisory Board shall be composed of 21 members:
- The Chair of the County Council’s Health, Human Services and Public Safety Committee, or their representative, who shall serve as Chair;
- One (1) representative from the County Executive’s office;
- The President and CEO of Employ Prince George’s, or their representative;
- The Administrative Judge of the Prince George’s County Circuit Court or the Administrative Judge’s representative;
- The Chief of Police or the Chief’s representative;
- The Sheriff or the Sheriff’s representative;
- The Director of Corrections or the Director’s representative;
- The State’s Attorney or the State’s Attorney’s representative
- The Public Defender or the Public Defender’s representative
- The Health Officer or the Health Officer’s representative;
- The Director of Social Services or the Director’s representative;
- The Director of Housing and Community Development or the Director’s representative
- The CEO of the Prince George’s County Public Schools or the CEO’s representative;
- The President of the Prince George’s Community College or the President’s representative;
- Two (2) representatives from non-profit organizations;
- One male and one female citizen of the County who are formerly incarcerated persons;
- Two (2) representatives from the Faith Based Community; and
- A representative from the Juvenile Justice system.
Prince George’s County Re-entry Advisory Board will seek to provide written preliminary reports by February 18, 2020 and June 15, 2020. Each preliminary report shall be followed by a public briefing to the County Council by the Board. The Board shall also submit a written final report by November 1, 2020 making findings, recommendations and plans for assistance implementation to the County Council for approval.
