COUNCIL CHAIR CALVIN S. HAWKINS, II, CO-SPONSORS ‘WELCOME HOME CELEBRATION’ FOR BASKETBALL STAR MAURICE MO’ CREEK FOLLOWING SAFE RETURN FROM WAR-TORN UKRAINE

Saturday, March 5 - Southern Regional Technology and Recreation Complex – 3 to 5 p.m.

Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, is among the sponsors preparing to celebrate the return of basketball start Maurice Mo’ Creek to Prince George’s County from Ukraine, the target of a Russian invasion.

Former NCAA basketball star Mo’ Creek, was among the Americans playing with the MBC Mykolaiv professional basketball team in the Ukrainian Men’s Basketball SuperLeague and was unable to leave as Russia invaded Ukraine.  On Thursday, March 3, 2022, after safely making it out of Ukraine, Mo’ Creek arrived at Dulles Airport.

County residents are invited to attend a community Welcome Home Celebration on Saturday, March 5, for food, music and fun.

The event is co-sponsored by Council Chair Hawkins, G.S. Proctor and Associates, Inc.; Sweet Tooth Cakes and Pastries; and Town of Bladensburg Council Member, Jocelyn Route, Ward 1.

“Our community is happy to welcome Mo’ Creek home to the United States and to Prince George’s County.  While we continue to pray for the Ukraine people as they battle against the Russian invasion, we celebrate the victory of his safe homecoming after such a harrowing and life-threatening experience,” said Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II.

The Celebration is planned for Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 3-5 p.m., at the Southern Regional Technology and Recreation Complex, 7007 Bock Road, in Fort Washington.
