COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE TO CONDUCT INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR DISTRICT 6 COUNCIL VACANCY; COUNTY COUNCIL TO REVIEW LEGISLATION AND CONDUCT BUDGET PUBLIC HEARINGS DURING HYBRID SESSIONS ON APRIL 26th - BUDGET WORK SESSIONS CONTINUE 

The Prince George’s County Council and the Committee of the Whole (COW) will convene hybrid sessions – both virtually and in person - on Tuesday, April 26th.

Council Session is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. with a public hearing for the Executive Appointment of Zipporah Miller as the District 5 Representative to the Board of Education.  Public hearings will also be held for CB-009-2022, legislation increasing the fine for nuisance violations; CB-010-2022, legislation concerning school bus monitoring; and CB-013-2022, an Act concerning Code ADAM.  Additional legislative measures are also on Tuesday’s agenda for Presentation and Introduction.    

The COW, scheduled for 11:30 a.m., will include a hybrid – virtual and in-person - DISTRICT 6 County Council Vacancy - Informational Meeting, to provide residents with an opportunity to hear from individuals deemed eligible and under consideration by the County Council to fill the vacancy. The District 6 County Council seat became vacant, effective Friday, April 15, 2022, following the resignation of the incumbent.  The COW will also review proposed legislation.

The County Council will reconvene at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, for a public hearing on the Proposed FY 2023 Operating Budget, Six-Year Capital Program and the Prince George’s County Board of Education Portion of the County FY 2023 Operating Budget, Proposed Budget of the Redevelopment Authority and Revenue Authority, and the Constant Yield Tax Rate.  

Council committees will conduct the following virtual budget work sessions this week:

Thursday, April 28th:

10:00 a.m. Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee

  • Soil Conservation
  • Department of Public Works and Transportation
  • Department of Environment

1:30 p.m. Government, Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee

  • Board of Elections
  • Community Relations
  • Human Rights
  • Revenue Authority
