COUNTY COUNCIL TO CONVENE VIRTUAL SPECIAL SESSION DECEMBER 15TH; WILL RECEIVE BRIEFINGS ON COVID-19/VACCINES, BODY-WORN CAMERAS AND CARES ACT FUNDING

The Prince George’s County Council, currently in December recess, will convene virtually for a Special Session on Tuesday, December 15th, at 10:00 a.m.

Council session will include briefing updates on COVID-19, including a discussion about vaccines, and the County’s Health Status; Body-Worn Cameras; and Cares Act Funding. Also, on the agenda is Proposed Correspondence addressing the County’s State Legislative Priorities for the 2021 General Assembly Session, and proposed legislation concerning the 2021-2022 Charter Review Commission and Compensation Review Board.

Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, says as the ongoing public health emergency continues its impact on the County, a special session is necessary.

“COVID has changed how this Council operates, and December recess is no exception.   This crisis continues to impact our residents, communities and businesses, and we are working to effectively respond to the County’s growing needs.  Committed to convene as needed, the Council will receive critical updates during this mid-December meeting.”
