MAY 3rd COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AGENDA CONSIDERS APPOINTMENT TO FILL DISTRICT 6 COUNCIL VACANCY; CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION PRESENTS FINAL REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS; BUDGET WORK SESSIONS CONTINUE

Council Moves Appointment Process to Fill District 6 Seat Forward During Tuesday’s Session

The Prince George’s County Council Committee of the Whole (COW) and the County Council will convene hybrid sessions – virtual and in person – on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

Continuing the appointment process to fill the District 6 Council vacancy, the COW will convene at 10:00 a.m. to consider the matter on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, after which the County Council is expected to take a final vote on the appointment.   Swearing-in for the Council appointee to the District 6 seat is tentatively scheduled for Monday, May 9, 2022.

The COW will also address CR-020-2022, legislation approving and adopting the FY  2023 Annual Action Plan for Housing and Community Development.  A budget work session for the M-NCPPC Operating and CIP budgets will be held prior to adjournment. 

The County Council will convene at 10:30 a.m. to review proposed legislation.  Council Members will also receive a briefing presented by the 2021-2022 Prince George’s County Charter Review Commission on its Final Report and Recommendations.  

Council Standing Committees will conduct the following virtual budget work sessions on Thursday, May 5th, to review proposed spending plans for the following County departments and agencies: 

10:00 a.m. Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee

  • Experience Prince George’s 
  • Financial Service Corporation 
  • Economic Development Corporation

1:30 p.m. Health, Human Services and Public Safety Committee  

  • Citizen Complaint Oversight Panel
  • Police Accountability
  • Administration and Charging Commission 
  • Arts and Humanities Council
  • Fire/Volunteer Fire
