PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY EXECUTIVE ANGELA ALSOBROOKS AND 11- MEMBER COUNTY COUNCIL TO TAKE OATH OF OFFICE DURING 14th INAUGURAL CEREMONY

The 14th Inaugural Ceremony for the Prince George’s County Government will take place Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and a new 11-member Prince George’s County Council will be sworn into office at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  

County Executive Alsobrooks will be sworn-in to serve her second term as the 8th Prince George’s County Executive and the first woman to hold the office.  A new Council, including returning members and those serving their first terms will also be sworn-in.  

The 2022 inaugural program will include inaugural addresses delivered by County Executive Alsobrooks and Legislative Year 2022 Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II.

Frequently Asked Questions: 

 -Where should I park and will I have to pay?

Accessible free parking is available at the Arena. The Arena is on TheBus public transportation route which is another option for travel. Please be advised that logistical coordination to ride TheBus will be the sole responsibility of the attendee. We have several VIP parking passes for media that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please confirm how many passes your outlet will need (no more than 2 per outlet) when you RSVP to attend. 

 -What time will doors open to the Arena?

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the ceremony will promptly commence at 10:00 a.m. Media are encouraged to arrive before 9:00 a.m. The County Executive and County Council Members must be sworn-in by noon in accordance with the County Charter. Entrance may be delayed to the public, if entering the arena once the swearing-in portion is underway. 

 -If there are no tickets for entry to the Arena, how would I secure a seat?

Registration is not required nor is this a ticketed event. Public seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Media will have reserved seating in section 101 for those that wish to watch the inauguration ceremony, and a designated reserved workspace in Suite 4. 

 -Will different languages other than English be spoken at the ceremony?

Interpretation services will be available.

 -Will the event be streamed online?
