COUNTY COUNCIL RETREAT “THE PEOPLE’S AGENDA:  PUTTING THE PEOPLE FIRST” DECEMBER 13TH-15TH  AT NATIONAL HARBOR

Council Retreat Sets Groundwork for “People’s Agenda”

The Prince George’s County Council will conduct its Annual Legislative Retreat, “The People’s Agenda: Putting the People First,” from Tuesday, December 13th through Thursday, December 15th at National Harbor.   Meetings will be held in the Sunset Room, 137 National Plaza, in Oxon Hill, MD.

The three-day retreat will offer important opportunities for prioritizing and addressing key concerns of residents through policy and legislation, with County and business, labor and nonprofit community leaders, as expressed in the Council’s People’s Agenda – open government; service delivery; protecting the environment; smart and quality community development; supporting working families; increasing opportunity for local minority development; and access to quality healthcare.

Tuesday’s retreat agenda, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will focus on goals for the Council’s standing committees, engagement with labor leaders, and discussions on Prince George’s County Public Schools construction and processes.

Wednesday’s retreat agenda, also scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., brings policymakers, stakeholders, and the community around the table to discuss County finances, including the budget and fiscal outlook for the upcoming fiscal year; business development tools and incentives; real estate development and minority businesses; as well as affordable housing.

Thursday’s agenda, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will wrap-up the retreat discussion with a discussion around options and solutions to address the issues of climate change and stormwater management.   Council Members will also receive an update on Plan 2035 and Smart Growth in Prince George’s County.

The Council’s Annual Retreat meetings are open to the public.  County Council sessions and meetings are available for Live and On-Demand viewing HERE.
