Residents Encouraged to Join Dialogue and Share Public Safety Concerns 

Prince George’s County Council Members Wanika Fisher (District 2) and Calvin S. Hawkins, II (At-Large), in an effort to bridge the gap between policymakers and the community, will host a Public Safety Countywide Listening Tour. Scheduled to take place in the Brandywine, Hyattsville, and Largo communities, the tour aims to provide a platform for residents to voice their concerns and suggestions regarding public safety.

Brandywine, Monday, March 11^th - Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex (SAARC) 
Hyattsville, Wednesday, March 13^th – Hyattsville Branch Library 
Largo, Thursday, March 14^th – Wayne K. Curry Administration Building 

Listening tours at each location will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Council Vice Chair Sydney Harrison (District 9) will join the tour at the Brandywine location.

Council Member Fisher, who also serves as Chair of the Council’s Health, Human Services, and Public Safety Committee (HHSPS), said the listening tours will serve as a direct channel for residents to voice their public safety concerns.  

“Public safety is a priority for the Council, and the listening tours provide an opportunity to hear residents’ concerns and perspectives on matters integral to their overall well-being,” said Fisher. “Through open dialogue and constructive feedback, we hope to gain valuable insight into different communities' unique challenges and priorities, which will help us develop the most effective policies moving forward.” 

Council Member Hawkins, co-chair of HHSPS, says including residents in the conversation is vital to effectively addressing public safety. 

“Residents represent an invaluable resource in our efforts to effectively address public safety,” Hawkins said. “Their perspectives and insights will only enrich the discussion and ultimately lead to more informed, targeted, and impactful approaches to improving public safety. I look forward to hearing what they have to say.”
