[ARCHIVED] VICE CHAIR DANNIELLE GLAROS WELCOMES GREATER RIVERDALE CAREER EMPOWERMENT CENTER TO DISTRICT 3

Career Center to Offer Holistic Workforce Development and Training

Prince George’s County Council Vice Chair Dannielle Glaros (D) – District 3, joined the Central Kenilworth Avenue Revitalization CDC Board, staff and affiliates for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and grand opening of the Greater Riverdale Career Empowerment Center (GRCEC) on Monday, May 1, 2017. GRCEC, located at 6801 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale Park, will offer holistic workforce development and training to the residents of Riverdale and the surrounding community.

Vice Chair Glaros says District 3 continues to grow and thrive, and the Greater Riverdale Career Empowerment Center will ensure that unemployed and underemployed residents are able to benefit from that growth.

“There must be a connection between residents who are looking for gainful employment and new job opportunities, said Vice Chair Glaros. “District 3 is experiencing a tremendous amount of growth and the Greater Riverdale Career Empowerment Center will play a vital role in providing residents with the tools they need to secure new jobs opportunities in the immediate area. We know they will be a wonderful community partner.”

The Greater Riverdale Empowerment Center offers a holistic approach to workforce development and training by providing residents with the services and continuing support to help them achieve economic security. A wide range of job training, career development, healthy living, legal and financial counseling services will be offered.

Last year, Vice Chair Glaros initiated a workforce development initiative, bringing together leaders from the private and public sectors to discuss the workforce needs and opportunities across District 3. Because of this initiative, the Central Kenilworth Avenue Revitalization CDC identified new partners for GRCEC.
