[ARCHIVED] COUNTY COUNCIL RECEIVES VEHICLE USE REVIEW BOARD FINAL REPORT

Final Report Recommends Changes for Future County Vehicle Use

The Prince George’s County Council received the final report of the Vehicle Use Review Board during session on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

Its work now completed, the County Vehicle Use Review Board, established by Council Resolution 001-2017, was charged with conducting a careful review of administrative policies governing the use of County-assigned vehicles and providing recommendations for policy changes.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to County Vehicle Use Review Board Members Dr. Jacqueline Brown, Samuel Epps, and Enor Williams, “said Chair Derrick L. Davis (D) – District 6.  “Each of these committed community leaders, volunteered time from their extremely busy schedules to thoroughly review the County government’s current vehicle use policies. We are thankful for the contributions they have made throughout this process and applaud their important work.”

Vehicle Use Review Board recommendations, as noted in the final report, address four areas: work day use of a County-supplied vehicle; personal vehicle mileage reimbursement; take-home assignment of a County-supplied vehicle; and personal vehicle automobile allowance.

“The Council will take the recommendations of the Review Board under careful consideration,” Chair Davis noted.  “Some recommendations have far-reaching implications.  We are forwarding a copy of the report to the County Executive and also providing it to the Charter Review Commission and Compensation Review Board to be examined more closely and in context with considerations of these bodies.”

Currently, no Council Members utilize take home vehicles.
