[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL MEMBER KAREN R. TOLES CELEBRATES PROGRESS IN DISTRICT 7

Long-Awaited Project Projected to Spur Economic Development in District 7 and Revitalize Suitland Communities

Prince George’s County Council Member Karen R. Toles (D) – District 7, joined County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, the Redevelopment Authority of Prince George’s County, community leaders and District 7 residents for the official groundbreaking for the Towne Square at Suitland Federal Center on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

The Towne Square at Suitland Federal Center will feature over a million square feet of mixed-use development, including residential apartment housing units, single-family attachment homes, retail space and a Performing Arts Center.

“Residents and commuters have waited a long time for this type of development and its planned amenities in Suitland. We are seeing incredible revitalization in our Suitland communities and the Town Square at Suitland Federal Center, another transit-oriented development in our County, is another step in the right economic direction,” said Council Member Toles. “Suitland is ready for this and future developments and we look forward to welcoming our neighbors to a truly inspiring and unique place to live, work and play!"

The Towne Square at Suitland Federal Center will be constructed in three phases. Phase one will begin immediately following the groundbreaking and include grading and infrastructure construction followed by the construction of townhomes and a senior apartment building in the spring of 2018. The second phase will begin in 2020 with the construction of 538 apartments and 2 Net Zero Energy homes. Phase three will include retail space and a Performing Arts Center.
