[ARCHIVED] VICE CHAIR TURNER URGES RESIDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN GLENN DALE HOSPITAL HISTORIC DISTRICT MEETING

Review of Glenn Dale Hospital Site Feasibility Study Results and Community Discussion

Prince George’s County Council Vice Chair Todd Turner (D) – District 4, Chair Dannielle Glaros (D) – District 3, and Council Member Andrea C. Harrison (D) – District 5, will co-host a Glenn Dale Hospital Historic District Public Meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Glenn Dale Golf Club, 11501 Old Prospect Hill Road in Glenn Dale, Maryland.

The Glenn Dale Hospital Historic District, located in Glenn Dale, Maryland, is a 207-acre property with 25 structures and woodlands owned by the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). In 2017 M-NCPPC, working with the County Redevelopment Authority, retained The Alexander Company to conduct a Feasibility Study for the Adaptive Re-Use of the Glenn Dale Hospital Site as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) as required by State law.

Vice Chair Turner says potential redevelopment plans for the Glenn Dale Historic District are moving forward, and community engagement throughout the process remains strong.

“The Glenn Dale Historic District is a valuable community asset and residents are excited and have not shied away from participating in the potential redevelopment of this area. This public meeting is a continued opportunity to ensure that the views of residents are appropriately reflected in the future redevelopment strategies.”

A community discussion will follow the presentation by The Alexander Company representatives and residents are encouraged to share their thoughts on the next redevelopment strategies for the Historic District. This will be the third public meeting over the past three years discussing the current conditions and future of the site.
