[ARCHIVED] PRINCE GEORGE’S AND MONTGOMERY COUNTY COUNCILS ADOPT FY 2019 BI-COUNTY BUDGETS

Prince George’s and Montgomery County lawmakers, convening their annual Bi-County Budget meeting on Thursday, May 10, 2018, adopted the budgets for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC); the bi-county portion of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC); and the Washington Suburban Transit Commission (WSTC).

Prince George’s County Council Chair Dannielle Glaros (D) – District 3, noted compromise between counties and the collaborative effort to adopt a budget that reflects the best interest of both jurisdictions.

“We are incredibly grateful to WSSC for hosting our Bi-county Budget meeting. This is a pretty big year of transition for both counties. I want to thank members of both counties for working together to adopt a budget that considers the needs of residents in both jurisdictions, while enabling WSSC to maintain its high level of service.”

During the joint session, both Councils approved the WSSC FY 2019 Operating and Capital budgets of $1.4 billion. The new budget includes a 4.5-percent rate increase for water and sewer customers.  All new bi-county spending plans are effective with the new Fiscal Year, beginning July 1, 2018.
