Parents, Caregivers, Educators and Students Encouraged to Attend Internet Safety Event - State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks Featured Guest
Prince George’s County Council Member Mary Lehman (D) – District 1, recognizing the importance of Internet safety, will present Social Media 101 on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Laurel High School, 8000 Cherry Lane, in Laurel, Maryland.
Council Member Lehman says Social Media 101 will focus on social media, mobile apps and keeping children safe online.
“While the Internet is a powerful learning tool for children, it is important to protect them from harmful material and inappropriate contact. It is also not uncommon for children to know more about social media than most adults. Parents, caregivers and educators are rightly concerned about who and what children are encountering on their computers, tablets and smart phones and our ‘Social Media 101’ event will provide families with tools, information and resources that encourage Internet safety.”
“Social Media 101” will feature presentations from Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks; Family Online Safety Institute; and the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
