April 9th Informational Meeting to Detail Key Changes to Zoning in Prince George’s County
The Prince George’s County Council has announced that the County’s new Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations, adopted by the Council in October 2018 following over four years of work to update the County’s land use policy, are now available online.
In addition to reviewing CB-013-2018 and CB-015-2018 online, residents and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend an Informational Meeting to learn more about the new Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations, review the County’s new land-use policies, ask questions about key changes, and examine the potential impact on Prince George’s County.
The Informational Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., in the County Administration Building, 14741 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, Room 2027, in Upper Marlboro. Council and Planning Board staff will be available to explain the new zoning laws and answer questions.
The new County Zoning Code, which determines where and how land can be developed, and helps share how communities grow, now provides important tools to facilitate the implementation of the Prince George’s General Plan – Plan 2035- and other County policy goals.
Council Chair Todd M. Turner (D) – District 4 explains the purpose of updating the County’s Development Codes.
“This is the first revision of the County’s Zoning Ordinance in 50 years. The Council appreciates the partnership of the Prince George’s Planning Department, as well as County residents and stakeholders with completing this huge undertaking – the Zoning Rewrite Process. These new laws support our shared vision for the future of our County, including smart growth, economic development, citizen engagement and a better quality of life.”
The new Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations would become effective upon the completion of the Countywide Map Amendment process to begin this year and expected to be adopted in late 2020. The legislation can be viewed on the County Council’s Zoning Ordinance Rewrite Portal, https://pgccouncil.us/ZOR
