[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL ANNOUNCES FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GRANT FUNDING FOR LOCAL NONPROFITS

$500,000 Grant Program Seeks Community Solutions for Ending Domestic Violence in Prince George’s County; Pre-Proposal Conference August 26

The Prince George’s County Council will continue its commitment to heighten awareness, strengthen the County’s safety net, and enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit partners with its appropriation of $500,000 in the FY 2020 approved County Budget to support domestic violence programs in Prince George’s County for the fourth consecutive year.

The FY 2020 Prince George’s County Council Grant Program provides funding support to programs that serve the housing, counseling or advocacy needs of County residents who are survivors of domestic violence. The program also supports prevention activities through a coordinated and collaborative community response to domestic violence in the County.

“Domestic violence, unfortunately, is still a pervasive issue in our communities that will require ongoing attention and sustained engagement,” said Council Chair Todd M. Turner (D) – District 4. “Eradicating domestic violence will also require a collaborative effort between nonprofits, public safety officials, residents and County Government, and this funding reaffirms the Council’s ongoing commitment to address the issue and support victims.”

The Prince George’s County Council staff will host a Pre-Proposal Conference for the Prince George’s County Council Grant Program on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., in Council Committee Room 2027, Second Floor, County Administration Building, 14741 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, in Upper Marlboro.

Interested nonprofit organizations may attend the conference to receive additional information about the Council’s Domestic Violence Grant Program and how to apply.
