Prince George’s County Council Member Monique Anderson-Walker (D) – District 8, will host a Caregivers and Grandparents Appreciation Brunch on Friday, November 1, 2019, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Oxon Hill Manor, 6901 Oxon Hill Road in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
“District 8 has a large number of caregivers who are responsible for the health and wellbeing of their loved ones and we want to take this time to show our appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions they have made,” said Council Member Anderson-Walker. “Caregivers and grandparents provide a tremendous amount of support to their families and communities, and this is a time for us to focus on them and show our gratitude.”
The Caregivers and Grandparents Appreciation Brunch will feature live music and a motivational speaker. Participants will also be provided with information on resources available to assist caregivers in Prince George’s County.
According to the National Alliance for Caregiving, more than 65 million people, 29% of the U.S. population, provide care for a chronically ill, disabled, or aged family member or friend during any given year which can negatively impact their health and finances. AARP reports more than 2.6 million children live in homes where grandparents are the householders and are responsible for them. Of these, almost 1 million children have no parents present in the home.
This event is currently at full capacity.
