Agenda IncludesHousing, Countywide Map Amendment and 2020 Census
The Prince George’s County Council convened the final day of its Annual Retreat today, January 22, with a “Housing Opportunities for All” update, and discussions on the 2020 Census Complete Count and the Countywide Map Amendment process. The two-day meeting was held in the Terrapin Room, at The Hotel at the University of Maryland, in College Park.
Council Members opened today’s session with a Housing Opportunities for All Strategy Workgroup Update provided by Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development Director, Estella Alexander; and Enterprise Advisors Director Chris Kizzie, and Program Director Laura Searfoss.
For a work session on the Countywide Map Amendment for Zoning Ordinance, the Council welcomed Acting Deputy Director Derick Berlage; and Countywide Planning Division Master Planner Chad Williams and Outreach Coordinator Brittany Drakeford for a presentation focusing on the proposed zoning map, community outreach and next steps. The work session was followed by a robust discussion on the Census Complete Count, and ways to engage the community for full participation in the 2020 Census.
Council Chair Todd M. Turner (D) – District 4, says the Council Members looks forward to using what they have learned during the retreat to strengthen their bond and move Prince George’s County forward.
“This retreat presented us with the opportunity to examine, more broadly, our 2020 Legislative priorities and I have no doubt that the momentum we have established will continue in our work on behalf of Prince George’s County residents.”
The retreat concluded with a discussion on parliamentary procedures and protocols, along with an administration and communications overview.
