[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL MEMBER ANDERSON-WALKER HOSTS “MOMENTS WITH MONIQUE” EVENT

COUNCIL MEMBER ANDERSON-WALKER HOSTS “MOMENTS WITH MONIQUE” EVENT FEATURING BLACK HISTORY, ARTS AND CULTURE

Community Celebration and Conversation Features “Black Women & Politics: To the Ballot and Beyond” Exhibit; CAAPA to present Our Voice: Music and the Black Vote Concert

Prince George’s County Council Member Monique Anderson-Walker (D) – District 8, will host “Moments with Monique” on Sunday, February 23, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and serve as guest host for Our Voice: Music and the Black Voice Concert at 4:00 p.m. Both events will be held at the Harmony Hall Regional Center, 10701 Livingston Road in Fort Washington, Maryland.

The day’s events, which commemorate Black History Month and its national theme “African Americans and the Vote,” will begin with “Moments with Monique,” an opportunity for District 8 residents to meet their District 8 Council Member and share community concerns. “Moments with Monique” will be held in the Art Center Main Gallery, which features the Black History Month Exhibition, “Black Women & Politics: To the Ballot and Beyond.”

Council Member Anderson-Walker says “Moments with Monique” provides a unique and important opportunity to hear ideas and concerns directly from our residents.

“I am always excited for the opportunity to engage directly with District 8 residents and talk about improving our communities. This event will also celebrate Black History Month, and our venue features the ‘Ballot and Beyond’ exhibit, highlighting the many, significant contributions of black women to politics. I encourage participants to stay with us for ‘Moments with Monique’ and experience some wonderful artistic expression. It will be an inspiring day.”

Immediately following “Moments with Monique” at 4:00 p.m., Council Member Anderson-Walker will guest host the “Our Voice: Music and the Black Voice Concert,” presented by the Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts (CAAPA). The concert will feature the CAAPA Ensemble; Soprano, Jocelyn Hunt; Actress, Betty Entzminger; Dancer, Jo Nay Aiken; Pianist, Joshua Jenkins; and Rapper, Lamont Deshield.
