[ARCHIVED] AT-LARGE COUNCIL MEMBER HAWKINS, II, AND COUNCIL MEMBER HARRISON PARTNER TO PROVIDE FACE MASKS

Prince George’s County Council Vice-Chair and At-Large Council Member Calvin S. Hawkins, II, and District 9 Council Member Sydney Harrison, in partnership with the education technology company, 2U, with global headquarters in Prince George’s County, are providing donated KN95 and equivalent protective face masks to healthcare employees and first-responders in Prince George’s County, impacted by COVID-19.

Healthcare workers and first-responders around the country, and in Prince George’s County, continue to welcome donations of Personal Protective Equipment, including face masks, as a safeguard against the spread of infection as they deliver patient care and support during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Additionally, as protective measures against further community spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), executive orders have been issued by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Prince George’s County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks requiring face coverings in public places, especially where social distancing may be challenging.

Council Members Hawkins and Harrison, Chair and Vice-Chair (respectively) of the Council’s Health, Human Services and Public Safety committee, will present the mask donation on Friday, May 1, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. outside of the main entrance University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center, 3001 Hospital Drive in Cheverly, MD. Prince George’s County Board of Health Advisor, Dr. Yolandra Hancock and President & CEO (Acting), Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, University of Maryland Capital Region Health, Dr. Joseph Wright.
