District 3 Council Member Dannielle Glaros Partners to Provide Food for Thousands of Residents through Greater Riverdale Cares Initiative
Food Distribution Saturday, May 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
Prince George’s County Council Member Dannielle Glaros (D- District 3), in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank, Brighter Bites and Coastal Sunbelt Produce, will distribute 1,000 boxes of shelf-stable groceries and fresh produce as a part of the Greater Riverdale Cares initiative. The third weekly food distribution resulting from this partnership will take place on Saturday, May 2, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7301 Annapolis Road in Landover Hills, Maryland.
The Greater Riverdale Cares initiative was launched by Council Member Glaros in partnership with Kaiser Permanente and the Central Kenilworth Avenue Revitalization (CKAR) CDC in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its adverse impact on Prince George’s County residents. The initiative, working with several community partners, has distributed more than 12,000 meals, bags of produce and boxes of groceries throughout District 3 to residents faced with food insecurities due to COVID-19.
Greater Riverdale Cares partners include Jose Andres and World Central Kitchen, Washington Nationals Philanthropies, Sardi’s, Capital Area Food Bank, Christian Life Center’s Passion & Compassion Ministry, Sowing Empowerment & Economic Development (SEED), Brighter Bites, Peace City Church, Solid Rock Church, Town of Riverdale Park, Town of Landover Hills, City of New Carrollton, International Rescue Committee (IRC), East Pines Terrace Apartments, Park View Gardens Apartments, St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Landover Hills, United Baptist of New Carrollton, Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), CASA and numerous District 3 civic leaders.
