Contactless Free Food Distribution Event at Prince George’s Community College – September 11
Prince George’s County Council Chair Todd M. Turner (D) – District 4, and Council Member Derrick L. Davis (D) – District 6, will join Prince George’s Community College Foundation Board Members; Prince George’s Community College President, Dr. Falecia Williams; Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington Special Projects Director, Joe Dempsey; American Heart Association Members; and Prince George’s Community College Culinary Arts faculty, staff and students for a free Community Food Distribution Event at Prince George’s Community College on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The Prince George’s Community College Foundation, Inc. received $40,000 in Non-Departmental Grant COVID-19 Relief Funding from the County Council to help achieve greater food security for all residents; raise awareness of diet-related health disparities; and provide opportunities to achieve economic equity via workforce development. The funds will help serve 800 County residents during the two-hour food distribution event that will provide food resources and education to residents facing COVID-19-related food insecurities, including Prince George’s Community College students and their families.
The free Community Food Distribution, a drive-up only event, will distribute prepared meals and boxes of shelf-stable items, fresh produce and frozen protein. A non-contact event, food boxes will be placed in the trunks of each vehicle.
