Family Justice Center to Provide Victims of Abuse with Coordinated Services in One Convenient Location
Prince George’s County Council Chair Derrick L. Davis (D) – District 6, will participate in the grand opening celebration for the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County Family Justice Center on Thursday, June 9, 2016, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., 14757 Main Street in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
The Family Justice Center will bring together services from various providers to help abuse victims and their children in a single facility with close proximity to the Courthouse. Services include safety planning, counseling, legal assistance, and social services to help victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, teen relationship violence, and elder abuse.
Chair Davis says the long-awaited Family Justice Center will provide victims of abuse with the resources they need in one convenient location, walking distance from the Courthouse.
“Victims of abuse are already facing a very difficult time and the County does not want to add to their distress by making access to resources and information difficult. It is important that we provide them with the tools to efficiently and effectively address their specific needs and the Family Justice Center is positioned to meet and exceed every expectation.”
The Family Justice Center, a 13,000-square foot renovated building within 100 yards of the Courthouse, is a collaborative effort led by Seventh Judicial Circuit Administrative Judge Sheila R. Tillerson Adams and the Circuit Court, in collaboration with Prince George’s County agencies and nonprofit organizations.
