[ARCHIVED] COUNTY COUNCIL TO HOLD VIRTUAL FY 2022 BUDGET TOWN HALL MEETING MARCH 2ND

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY COUNCIL TO HOLD VIRTUAL FY 2022 BUDGET TOWN HALL MEETING MARCH 2ND; RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE

The Prince George’s County Council will hold a virtual FY 2022 Budget Town Hall Meeting, on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, says participation in the County Budget process will be critical this year as decisions are made concerning how to address the financial impacts of COVID-19 on Prince George’s County and its residents.

“The ongoing public health emergency continues to have serious fiscal impacts on Prince George’s County and its residents.  The Council’s Budget Town Hall meeting offers an important opportunity for residents to become familiar with the Council’s Budget Review and Adoption Process, and how to participate.  We want to hear from County residents about how tax dollars should be prioritized, especially as we work to address the difficult financial challenges posed by COVID.  We are committed to an open, inclusive and participatory budget process, and look forward to working with our residents to ensure Prince George’s County effectively and efficiently meets its budget challenges to emerge stronger than ever before.”

The Council’s FY 2022 Budget Town Hall Meeting will feature a presentation on the fiscal outlook for the upcoming budget season by Office of Management and Budget Director, Stanley Earley. Deputy County Auditor Turkessa Green will also present an overview of the Council’s Budget Review and Adoption Process. Important calendar dates for budget meetings and public hearings will be provided, and participants will have an opportunity to address Council Members and share FY 2022 budget concerns and priorities.
