$500,000 Grant Program Seeks Community Solutions for Ending Domestic Violence in Prince George’s County
The Prince George’s County Council will continue its commitment to heighten awareness, strengthen the County’s safety net, and enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit partners by appropriating $500,000 in FY 2019 to domestic violence programs in Prince George’s County for the third consecutive year.
The FY 19 Prince George’s County Council Grant Program, officially launched Wednesday, July 25, 2018, provides funding support to programs that serve the housing, counseling or advocacy needs of County residents who are victims of domestic violence. The program also supports prevention activities through a coordinated and collaborative community response to domestic violence in the County. The Council’s grant program has invested an additional $1.5 million County dollars to fight domestic violence, including $500,000 in FY 2017 and 500,000 in FY 2018 to a total 19 nonprofits.
“The Council has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen our communities and protect domestic violence victims by appropriating $500,000 in FY 2019 to domestic violence programs in Prince George’s County for a third consecutive year,” said Council Chair Dannielle Glaros (D) – District 3. “Eradicating domestic violence in our communities will require a collaborative effort between County Government, nonprofits, public safety officials and residents. The funding reinforces the Council’s front-end investment in a continuum of services aimed at addressing domestic violence and we are grateful to all those who continue to work on this critical issue.”
The Prince George’s County Council will host a Pre-Proposal Conference for the Prince George’s County Council Grant Program on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., in Council Committee Room 2027, Second Floor, County Administration Building, 14741 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, in Upper Marlboro.
